Five roles, ten actors, two genders, and a “bigender” theatrical experiment signed by a Western director, in which each character is performed simultaneously by both an actress and an actor. The starting point is Offenbach’s comic operetta, which we rewrote together with Péter Závada into an even more spirited version. Instead of a full orchestra—beats, and instead of arias—rap. The story speaks about a mother’s secret, a father’s care, a chauvinist ruler, and two young people who are not even sure whether they are boys or girls. Shifting gender roles, for beginners and advanced alike—the first production in the final year of Hungarian acting students (Year V).
