„OURCLASS” follows the destinies of ten classmates—five Poles and five Jews—whose lives intersect for the first time in 1926, on the first day of school in the small Polish town of Jedwabne. In the years that follow, „Marea Istorie” (en: History with a capital H)turns them, one by one, into victims and perpetrators, demonstrating in the most brutal way how small and fragile human beings become when the society they belong to loses its sense and faith. The peak of individual dehumanization occurs on July 10, 1941, when former Polish classmates become perpetrators of violence, culminating in extreme acts of aggression, rape, and the burning alive of their Jewish neighbors in a barn. At the core of the performance lies the question: under what conditions does a human being become a monster? Starting from this, the production explores themes such as the duality of human nature in extreme situations, the effects of war on the individual, and the fragile boundary between victim and aggressor. The dramaturgy is based on „Clasa Noastră” by Tadeusz Słobodzianek.
