Sometimes doctor, sometimes child, sometimes patient, sometimes writer, sometimes dead. The spectator is not a witness, but a participant. There are no traditional characters, only fragments of voice. Every gesture is a memory, every sentence—an error. The poetics of a malfunctioning brain. Or the poetics of a non-malfunctioning one? A man stands on stage. Or perhaps he is no longer a man. Maybe just a voice. Maybe only a remainder. A linguistic body trying to speak—towards itself. Towards us. Backwards. A vibration of the nervous system left after Karinthy, a posthumous self-portrait. The slow cooling of a consciousness. Where humour is not a weapon, but a symptom. And still: an ongoing attempt to say all of this. Somehow. At any cost. The production is based on Frigyes Karinthy’s illness memoir Journey Around My Skull.
